Congratulations to Doug Durward (seen left) for winning first prize in the Fort St. James Minor Hockey Raffle held this week.  Jackie Marshall (seen right ) handed Doug a cheque in the amount of $1500. Second prize winner was Cheryl  Peterson for $300 and third prize of $200 was won by Philip Cameron.

On behalf of the Minor hockey executive, we would like to thank everyone for your support.  The raffle raised a total of $2,184 which will be used towards costs related to the association such as ice time, tournament fees, and equipment.

This year, Fort St. James Minor Hockey participation is down by 20 per cent.  As a result, nine players in the   Peewee Division (ages 11-12) and six players in the  Bantam Division (ages 13-14) are now playing in Vanderhoof. We are fortunate to have a few of their events scheduled here in the Fort.

Jackie Marshall,  president of the Fort St. James Stars Minor Hockey Association, has been a dedicated parent and member  of  the association for more than a decade and will be done after this hockey season.

The association will be seeking a new president for next season as well as trying to fill other positions.  We hope to see an increase in players and bring back the two divisions to Fort St. James.

There is a busy  hockey schedule ahead of us at the Fort Forum with the Tyke Tournament Feb. 11, Peewee Tier 3 Tournament Feb. 17-19,  Bantam Playoffs Feb.. 25-26, and Midget Zones being held March 3-4.

Looking forward to your support in the stands!! Go Stars Go!!
