The annual Santa Parade is set to return to Fort St. James this month on Nov. 24. with added competition for residents to participate in.

Organized by the Fort St. James Chamber of Commerce the parade witnesses hundreds of spectators come out to see brightly lit floats in the downtown area. In addition, the public can also participate in the Moonlight Madness shopping prize draws. Any person, 18-years and older who spends $10 at a participating business is eligible to enter a prize draw. Prizes range from $100 to $450.

This year the floats will start at Cottonwood Beach and go to the Community Center. Participants must have their float at Cottonwood by 6:30 p.m. for judging.

The floats will be judged by a secret judge present at the event. Prizes for winners of the Santa Parade ranges from $50 to $100.

“The Chamber has also added a new People’s Choice Award which will give everyone an opportunity to win,” said Howell.

All prizes are awarded in Fort St. James Bucks to encourage ‘shopping local,” said Rosa Anne Howell, acting manager, Fort St. James Chamber of Commerce.

There will also be a hot chocolate and hot dogs available at Spirit Square by donation, the proceeds of which will go to support a Ukrainian family. The Chamber is also hosting a ‘decorate your business’ contest on the day and encouraging all local businesses in town to participate.

“This is a great event for the whole community,” Howell said, adding,”Come out and watch the Santa Parade, do some Christmas Shopping and support your local businesses.”
