On Saturday, June 21, the Nak'azdli Whut'en community proudly hosted a vibrant celebration for National Indigenous Peoples Day, featuring a series of engaging activities throughout the day.
The festivities commenced with a lively parade that journeyed from Kwah Hall to Cottonwood Park, showcasing an impressive array of floats that delighted onlookers.
The streets were filled with enthusiastic supporters, as children eagerly collected freezies and candy tossed from the passing parade.
Upon reaching Cottonwood Park, the celebration continued with a community barbecue, a bustling market, traditional drumming and singing, canoe races and a spirited game of bingo.
The market highlighted the remarkable craftsmanship of local beaders, with the inviting aroma of freshly made bannock wafting through the air. The event proved to be a resounding success, uniting the community in a shared spirit of support and celebration.
