Local graduating class celebrates with annual parade

This year's parade was the largest since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic

The graduating class of Fort St. James Secondary School participated in their annual graduation parade, a cherished tradition in the community, on Saturday, June 21.

The procession began at the local curling rink, temporarily halting highway traffic as it wound through the town and concluded at Cottonwood Park.

This year's parade was the largest since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, featuring an impressive 25 floats. The parade showcased an eclectic mix of elaborately decorated vehicles, classic cars, boats, golf carts, dirtbikes and even graduates in gowns gracefully riding horses.

The graduating class was met with overwhelming support, waving, smiling and shedding tears amidst the celebrations. It was a poignant moment for the community, with local residents lining the streets to offer cheers and well-wishes.

The event concluded with graduates gathering on the scenic shoreline for photographs, marking the end of their school journey.

From start to finish, the air was filled with joyful shouts and applause as Fort St. James united to celebrate the promise and potential of its young graduates.
