27-year old man missing in Fort St. James

RCMP say they have engaged ground search and rescue as well

Fort St. James RCMP detachment have confirmed that there is a 27-year old male missing in the District.

Sgt. Pat Jenkins, acting detachment commander for the detachment said, they received a call to check on the well-being of a local man on Monday morning, April 9.

“And the investigation quickly morphed into a search operation for a missing person,” said Jenkins. He said as per the Privacy Act, the detachment is not releasing the name of the person yet.

Jenkins said the RCMP engaged Fort St. James Search and Rescue for ground search.

“Fort St. James Search and Rescue has set up a command post in the parking lot just below the first bridge on Stuart river, just south of town,” he said.

Jenkins said more information about the missing individual will be made available once permission is taken from the family.

“I can tell you that we have engaged ground search and rescue and are employing RCMP resource from our support units,” he said.
