The Fort St. James Community Foundation's summer fundraiser Corks & Kegs took place at the National Historic Site, drawing a crowd of over 175 attendees.
The event, open to those aged 19 and over, featured live performances by classic rock and country band The Kickers and singer-songwriter Sam Holden. Guests enjoyed handmade Bannock and tacos alongside a selection of over 15 craft beers, wines, ciders, and meads.
Highlights of the evening included a chance to win a $3,000 Northern Adventure Treasure Chest, a 50/50 jackpot, and a raffle with prizes valued between $100 and $200. Local resident Sam Grill was the lucky winner of the treasure chest.
With the support of 20 volunteers, the event raised an estimated $30,000. Funds will contribute to the foundation’s capital fund, which supports annual grants, bursaries, scholarships, and funding for various local charities and educational institutions.
Since its inception in 2011, the Fort St. James Community Foundation has allocated $175,000 to initiatives in education, health, sports, recreation, arts, culture, conservation, and social services.
