For those looking to have more active fun in the winters in 2025, one northern B.C. ski hill has something to help those new year's goals get met.
While Murray Ridge Ski Area near Fort St. James and Vanderhoof may not be drowning in powder yet this winter, they are offering some incentives to get area folks out to make some turns on the snow they have.
Through January, the community ski hill is offering 50 per cent off lift passes for residents of neighbouring towns in the new year. On select days, residents of different communities can ski for cheap.
On Jan. 18, Vanderhoof, Fraser Lake and Fort Fraser residents can enjoy discounted day passes.
On Jan. 19 Burns Lake, Smithers and Telkwa can come for some turns at the cut rate, and on Jan. 25, Prince George residents can enjoy the inexpensive opportunity.
Those taking advantage of the discounted rates are asked to provide a small donation to the Fort St. James Food Bank in exchange, with a suggested donation of $2.
Full rate day passes for 2024/25 are $25 for children 7-13 years old, $40 for youth, and $65 for adults over 19. Seniors and students have discounted rates as well.
Other upcoming events so far on the Murray Ridge calendar for the season include the Everest Challenge on Mar. 1 and 8, Retro Day Mar. 15, and a Big Air Rail Jam on Mar. 16.
The Slush Cup season finale is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, Mar. 29, but all dates are subject to change due to conditions. For more information, go to: www.murrayridge.com.
