On June 25, Apollo Forest Products Ltd. held a garage sale at Spirit Square in Fort St. James.

All proceeds went to support the local Syrian Refugee Group.

About $976 was raised to help support a Syrian refugee family relocate and settle into the community of Fort St. James.

A dedicated group has been busily trying to help raise funds to make this happen and about $27,000 is required before the process can even begin.

Once the funds are raised, it could take only 1-4 months before a family arrives.

The group is currently looking into housing costs, and budgeting.

The Syrian crisis remains a huge problem as numbers of refugees are soaring.

About 25,000 refugees are set to arrive in Canada and Fort St. James is well on their way to being able to welcome a Syrian family a new home and new beginning in the community.

For anyone who would like to make a personal donation, they can do so at the Integris Credit  Union in Fort St. James and cheques may be made payable to the Fort St James Syrian Refugee Sponsorship Group.

Keep your eyes open too for raffle tickets being sold at various businesses and organizations in Fort St. James.

The Caledonia Courier continues to be a proud supporter of the Syrian Refugee Group of Fort St. James.
