If you drive along Highway 27 it’s inevitable that you will run into the statuesque Pebbles sitting at the turnoff to “Brad’s Pit”.

But on the weekend of Aug. 6-7, Pebbles was defaced. Her face was spray painted black.

“It’s just such a shame because so many people stop to see her and take pictures of her,” Brad Miller, owner of Brad’s Pit in Fort St. James said.

Miller, also a Councillor for the District of Fort St. James is saddened that this happened.

It’s obvious that Pebbles has had such an impact for people young and old as they travel down the highway.

“I had her originally built for a parade by Loretta Signs a few years ago and we won best float,” Miller said.

Since then, Pebbles has been a fixture to look forward to on the highway.

“It’s so sad. People love her. I just don’t want to see this happen again,” Miller said.

For anyone who might have information about this occurrence, you can contact Crime Stoppers at the Fort St. James RCMP at: 1-800-222-8477.
