The grade 8 girls basketball team from Fort St. James High School were out to show their hard work, determination and skill as they battled their way into second place overall.

The grade 8 tournament was held on Feb. 12.

The Falcons won an aggressive and tense game against Vanderhoof winning 20 – 18 bringing them into first place.

“It’s so exciting. These girls have come so far. I’m really proud of them,” coach Connie Morrisey said.

The final against Burns Lake only proved further that the Falcons were up for the challenge as they battled but lost 23 – 30.

Despite the loss, Morrisey couldn’t be more proud of her team.

“It was so close, Morrisey said. “But that’s ok. I’m so happy with this team of girls and with how hard they played.”

The grade 8 boys also ended up with a second place finish losing to Northside in the final.
