The local RCMP were given some cash to help target illegal crops in the area recently.
On March 22, the provincial government announced some funding for area RCMP detachments to help in the fight against illegal marijuana grow operations.
In Fort St. James, the detachment was awarded $6,000 from funds available through what are called Civil Forfeiture Grants.
The grants are from money or items seized by police and believed to be instruments or the proceeds of criminal activity.
The $6,000 will go towards the purchase of FLIR, which is thermal imaging equipment used in the detection of marijuana grow op activities or search and rescue efforts.
A total of $5.5 million was distributed across the province through these grants.
