MP Nathan Cullen was critical of Northern Health’s handling of the proposed new hospital at Burns Lake.
“Northern Health has done a pretty atrocious job of including the people in the community in the build of a new hospital,” said Cullen.
According to Cullen, the current issue is whether or not the new hospital will include an operating room or not.
He pointed out the reliance of Burns Lake on resource-based jobs, which can also be dangerous jobs.
“The idea of having to ship everybody out to Prince George if they get hurt is putting lives at risk, frankly,” said Cullen.
But he said he was confident in the community getting what it needed because of the local movement pushing for it.
