The Fort St. James Sustainability Group got some attention recently.
The group was mentioned in a Vancouver Sun article about opposition groups in B.C. to Enbridge’s proposed Northern Gateway Project.
The story was reporting how celebrities will be bringing their “star power” to the opposition to Enbridge’s proposed pipeline from the Alberta tar sands to Kitimat.
Both Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert Redford are directors for the U.S.-based environmental group the Natural Resource Defense Council, and Robert Kennedy Jr. is the group’s senior lawyer.
The group has also used Kevin Bacon to narrate a video about the project.
The local sustainability group was mentioned alongside the Sea to Sands Conservation Alliance from Prince George, the Douglas Channel Watch in Kitimat, and the Lakes District Clean Waters Coalition in Burns Lake as newer, local groups opposed to the project.
