Wayne Morrison who was reported missing Tuesday evening in the Kispiox Valley has been found by search teams.
Family members say the 67-year old was found Thursday dehydrated and tired but otherwise okay after spending two nights in the bush, avoiding bears and eating berries. Wayne was taken to Wrinch Memorial Hospital in Hazelton for observation.
“He survived that long and is still tough as nails,” wrote Stephanie Morrison, Wayne’s daughter, on Facebook.
Yesterday Search and Rescue crews, along with RCMP air support and police dog services, were called to assist and search the area near Helen Lake Road. A call for additional volunteers from Terrace, Kitimat, Prince George, Fort St. John and other Northwest B.C. communities was made earlier today.
The Terrace Standard is awaiting response from Houston SAR for more information.
