Yesterday morning (March 13) a pick-up truck and trailer slid off the road at the intersection of Jones Rd. and Loop Road.

The intersection is about five km northwest of Vanderhoof and about 50 km south of Fort St. James. The trailer wound up on its end, up against a BC Hydro power pole. The pole carries a 69,000 volt transmission line that feeds power to Fort St. James and it was broken by the force of the crash.

As the weather grew worse, BC Hydro had to take a power outage to safely replace the broken pole.

Power was out for all 2,200 BC Hydro customers in the Fort St. James area from 3:30 p.m. to just past 6:00 p.m. while the old pole was replaced with a new one.
