The Tl’azt’en Nation is currently in discussions with a number of mining and mineral exploration companies that seek permission to operate in their territory.

“There is a process to operating in our lands,” said Chief Ralph Pierre.

Main among the band’s concern is getting a signed agreement that Chief and Council, and impacted Keyoh holders sign off on before the exploration begins.

The band has hired a team of negotiators to help with negotiations between the band and the companies.

“We must ensure that all of our concerns pertaining to sustainable and responsible development are taken into account,” read a press release from Pierre.
