On June 14 at approximately 11:12 am, the Fort St. James Fire Dept. along with the R.C.M.P. responded to a call involving a paving tanker.
The tanker rolled over on Stuart Drive in Fort St. James which caused the road to be closed and later was down to single lane traffic for many hours due to clean up.
BC Ambulance Service (BCAS), Public Works, the Ministry of Environment and Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) were also called to the scene.
According to Fort St. James Fire Chief, Michael Navratil, the driver of the tanker was taken to hospital.
Even though he was considered to be in stable condition, the driver was later transferred to Prince George via British Columbia Ambulance Service.
“This could have been a lot worse. The potential was there,” Navratil said.
