On Feb. 11 at 10:50 a.m., Fort St. James RCMP responded to a complaint of a vehicle in the ditch on Sowchea Road.
Upon arriving at the scene, RCMP found the vehicle unoccupied, but a rifle and ammunition were located in the vehicle.
The owner of the vehicle is a Fort St. James resident, and has been served documents to appear in court on May 21.
Charges of insecure storage of a firearm are being recommended to Crown counsel in the case.
