Alma Doris Hoy
Passed away peacefully
in her sleep September
1st, 2007 at the age of
75.
Alma was born in Essex
England and moved to
Canada in 1957. She
was quick to embrace her
new country and wore
her Canadian colours
proudly, showing the flag
wherever she traveled.
Alma never quit learning,
and spent time the past
few years upgrading
her skills at Continuing
Education, so that her
computer was more than
a dust collector. She
was always eager to give
back to the communities
she lived in. Her and
her husband Stu were
instrumental in building
the Sun Katchers RV
Park in Keremeos, where
they lived for the last 8
years. During that time,
Alma helped with many
worthwhile community
projects in Keremeos,
and her most proud
achievement was the
completion of the Kyalami
Place, the Assisted Living
Centre in Keremeos and
starting up the Cancer
Support Group. Alma
was determined to fi ght
the battle as long as
possible, and did so with
grace and courage.
Alma is survived by her
loving husband Stuart,
their children Brenda
(Phil), Richard (Donna),
Laura (Lyle), Leslie (Yuki),
Doug (Carol) and Donna,
her grandchildren Danielle
(Clint), Dalyce (Wayde),
Leon and Lemiel, and her
great grandson Jordan,
and her sisters Brenda
Shaless (Peter) and
Mavis Powell.
She spent the last two
months of her life at
Moog & Friends Hospice
House in Pentiction, and
the family would like to
extend our thanks and
gratitude to the staff for
her excellent care.
Alma requested no
formal service, but there
will be a celebration of
her life on Saturday,
September 15th, at
2:00pm at the clubhouse
of the Sun Katchers
RV park., Keremeos In
