Donald "Bryan" Kongus

October 27, 1972 - August 17, 2017

Bryan was born in Jasper, Alberta.  At the age of 6 the family relocated to Cobble Hill where Bryan received his education, graduating from Cowichan High School with the class of 1990.

He found his passion in life when he began volunteering as a firefighter with the Cowichan Bay Fire Hall in his late teens.  Bryan decided to turn his passion into a career and was in the second class to graduate from the Justice Institute.  Over his 23 year career at the Richmond Fire Department he excelled and eventually achieved Captain status.

Those left behind to mourn include his spouse Barbara Sudermann, his step-children Maxx, Joel and Cassie, his daughter Maya, his parents Donald and Lenore, brother Warren (Deon), his sister Sarah Crampton (Bryan), 2 nieces and a nephew.

A celebration of Bryan's life will be held on November 5th from 2 pm until 5 pm at the North Cowichan Fire Department, South End Hall in Duncan (5851 Duncan Street).

A second service to be held in Vancouver at a later date.

We welcome all memories and photos to be shared.

If desired, donations can be made in Bryan's memory to BCPFFA towards mental health.
