Donovan Leroy Ofstie

February 15, 2019

January 12, 1942 - February 15, 2019
It is with great sorrow that the family of Donovan Leroy Ofstie announce that he passed away peacefully on February 15, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Melfort, SK. on January 12, 1942, Donovan spent the first 10 years of his life growing up in Fairy Glen, SK. His family moved to Macrorie SK. in 1953 where he continued going to school and then struck out in the work force, looking after cattle, working on the construction of the Gardiner Dam on the South Saskatchewan river, operating heavy equipment, building roads, working in an elevator, and as a heavy duty mechanic.

He moved to Fort St. James in 1972 with his wife, Sharon and daughter Yvonne. But it wasn't long before their son Curtis arrived to complete the family.

Donovan loved building roads, especially with his TerexTS-14 scraper. He also had a great love for livestock, becoming a rancher in 1998.

But his greatest love was his family.

He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Sharon, daughter Yvonne Beausejour (Dean), son Curtis (Tracey). Grandchildren: Caihla Beausejour, Noah, Jesse and Tessa Ofstie. As well as a sister Valerie Blomquist (Dale) and six brothers: Roland (Lynn), Lowell (Donelda), Lyle (Cheryl), Kerry (Marilyn), Daryl (Yasmin) and Gordon (Joan) and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Stuart lake Hospital and the B.C. Ambulance service for all their loving care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stuart Lake Hospital Auxiliary or the Canadian Cancer Society.
