Suddenly, February 28, 2009 Richard Lloyd Sword took his final ride..

Beloved husband, father and brother, he leaves to mourn his passing, wife Sandra, sons Michael (Maureen), Lloyd and brother Joe Flanagan and constant companion Memphis.

Rick was born May 18, 1944 in Morton, Washington. His family moved to Quesnel in 1955 where his family owned and operated Sword and Kerr Sawmill.

Rick moved to Fort St. James in 1994 and the past ten years, along with his wife Sandy, owned and operated Suspender’s General Store on Sowchea Road.

Rick had a passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles and each year took extended trips with his “twin brother” Dennis Leigh. He loved Elvis, the Beatles, Mohammed Ali and Harry Caray.

The “Taz” earned the respect and affection of his staff and the respect of the community he served. He will have a place in our hearts forever.

There will be a memorial service at a later date

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Fund.
