Robert (Bob)

Rudolf Ubleis

April 22, 1927 –

October 11, 2012

Bob was born in Austria and immigrated to Canada in 1930 with his parents Rudy and Berta. In 1937 they settled in Fort St James and lived at the Mission where they started their dairy. They went on to purchased property on Necoslie Rd where they built the farm house that still stands today.

In 1951 Bob married Joan Blackburn. They have two children, Ruth and Gordon. Poor road conditions and the children needing to go to school they moved their house from Necoslie into town in 1958.

Bob started Ubleis Logging Ltd. in the 1950’s, and became the main logging contractor for Stuart Lake Lumber. Ubleis Logging is now operated by the third generation of the Ubleis family.

Bob was involved with the Fort St. James Emergency Services as a volunteer fireman holding the position of fire chief for 24 years.

His favorite pastimes were farming, logging, coffee shop visits and touring around in his pickup.

Bob is survived by Joan and their children Ruth (Ted) and Gordon (Christy); grandchildren Michael (Erika), Melanie, Dana (James) and Rob (Amelia); great grandchildren Andee and Aimee.
