Enbridge talks to Chamber of Commerce in Fort St. James

A small crowd of about 10 people kept two speakers with Enbridge busy answering questions at a presentation on August 23. Michele Perret, senior manager of community relations and Shane Kelly, a senior geotechnical engineer, both spoke and took questions from the small audience. Enbridge asked to present at a Chamber of Commerce meeting on the proposed 1,177 km twin Northern Gateway pipeline.

Film generates discussion

A small crowd of about a dozen people came out to watch a film on the proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline at the local library Tuesday, August 16. The August 16 film was a video recording of speakers who came to communities across the proposed pipeline route last year, to talk about their experiences with Enbridge pipelines.

New initiative takes aim at hunger and homelessness

An anti-poverty initiative is underway in the Fort. A new society is being formed to coordinate hunger and homelessness reduction projects and programs, and while they don’t yet have a name, they do have some funds.

Métis Celebration to Unfold at Fort St. James August 27

The first Métis Culture and Music Fest will take place on August 27 and feature a variety of fun and exciting educational activities. Amongst the programs taking place will be professional jigging lessons and instruction, a variety of musical talents and fiddle players and a craft fair. Free buffalo burgers will also be available to all visitors on August 27 beginning at 11 a.m..

Some studies suggest a variety of reasons why seniors are not going online for these services as much as they could be, ranging from a lack of perceived need to a fear of an over technological society. Regardless of the reasoning, it is important to understand and reduce this ‘gray gap’ as much as possible to make sure senior citizens aren’t left in the past.

Doubts grow for probe into serial killer Pickton's slaying spree. Months ago, the National Parole Board promised to notify Ernie Crey if serial killer Robert Pickton is transferred between prisons for any reason. Now the feds have retracted the offer by way of a letter to Crey, whose sister is thought to have been slaughtered on Pickton’s Port Coquitlam farm.
