Ashton was the first baby born in the Stuart Lake Hospital this year, and received a gift from the Stuart Lake Hospital Auxilliary for his efforts.

urdeniuk is only 19 years old, but she’s about to be the one in charge of the summer recreation programs, providing recreational entertainment and learning opportunities for children ages five to 13.

Numbers are up, but not nearly enough. This is the sentiment from Kevin Gedling, Product Development Officer with the Fort St. James National Historic Park for Parks Canada.

Mrs. Lil Willick, who will be turning 80 years old this June, did the Sun Run 2011, a 10 km run or walk in Vancouver, along with 11 participants of Team Fort St. James 2011, a family team in April 17, 2011.

It was a beautiful and sunny day —if a bit windy. But that did not deter customers and vendors alike from participating in the opening day of the 13th annual Fort St. James Farmer’s Market on May 13.

The workshop was put on jointly by Bernardin and Fresh Choice Kitchens, a project of the Greater Vancouver Foodbank Society, which works with community based organizations. The goal of the “Train the Trainer” workshop was to teach the techniques to community kitchen leaders so they can then put on workshops in their own communities and disseminate the information to make for more sustainable communities.

Local talent to represent Nechako Lakes in Kamloops Jerusha Turgeon is a young woman of many talents. She will get to show off at least one of these talents during the B.C. Festival of the Performing Arts in Kamloops in June. Jerusha will be performing in the classical voice category, representing the Nechako Valley Performing Arts.

Sowchea Elementary had some special visitors recently. The Yekooche Dancers came to the school and performed some First Nations dances and drum songs for the students and teachers of Sowchea.
